League Rules

The Rules for the 2023 season are listed here. To suggest a change for 2024, please email the commissioner.

Object
Team owners attempt to assemble a lineup of baseball players whose cumulative statistics during the regular season, compiled and measured by the methods described in these rules, exceed those of all other teams in the league.

Teams
10 teams will be active at all times. If an owner chooses to resign the ownership of his team, a replacement owner will be identified and assume the management duties of that team, including its players and draft position. The replacement owner will then select 8 players from that team prior to the following season's draft. To submit someone for consideration to be a replacement owner, email the commissioner.

Rosters
Each team can include up to 29 players at a given time. There will be 24 active spots, 1 Not Active spot and 4 Injured List spots. Not all spots are required to be filled, but a team can never have more than 29 total, or 24 active, players.

Players will be from the Major League universe (both the AL and NL).

There are no position restrictions (pitchers vs. offense, or a specific position).

Only players listed in the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball player pool are eligible to be held on a roster.

No free agent transactions are allowed between the last day of the regular season and the next season's draft. Trades are allowed during this period.

Keeper Selection
Prior to each new season's live draft each owner will select 8 keepers from their roster prior to the assigned keeper deadline. Owners may only select players who were on their roster at the close of the previous season, or have been acquired by trade during the offseason.

There are no position restrictions (pitchers v. offense, per position) on the types of players that can be kept. There is no limit to the number of years that a player may be kept.

If any owner does not select 8 keepers, the commisioner will assign the highest Yahoo-rated players from that team's current roster, up to 8 players.

If any owner selects more than 8 keepers, the commisioner will assign the 8 highest Yahoo-rated players from that team's current roster, leaving any remaining selections available for the draft.

Draft
Prior to each new season, a live draft will be held at a date and time selected by the commissioner to be the best available for the majority of league owners. The selected keepers will make up the first 8 rounds of the draft and the 9th round of the draft will open up the remaining available draft pool to all owners to select from until all rosters are full.

If an owner does not attend the draft, Yahoo will use that owner's pre-rankings to select players (as available). If the owner has not pre-ranked players, Yahoo will use their own rankings to select players.

Lineup
Changes to the team's lineup can be made daily. Each team will start players at the following positions:

Offense: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util

Pitching: SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP

The Util spot can be filled by any offensive player. The bench, Not Active and Injured List spots can be used for any type of player. Position eligibility will be determined by the rules of Yahoo Fantasy Baseball.

Stat Categories
Rotisserie scoring will be used with the following statistical categories:

Offense: Batting Average (BA), Home Runs (HR), On Base Percentage + Slugging Percentage (OPS), Runs Scored (R), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB)

Pitching: Wins (W), Losses (L), Saves (SV), Earned Run Average (ERA), Walks & Hits / Innings Pitched Ratio (WHIP), Strikeouts (K)

Transactions
Each team will be limited to a total number of 60 free agent transactions (Adds) per season. These transactions will include a cost of .50 per transaction, which will be added to the pot and distributed to the winners at the end of the season. Trades and drops do not count against this limit, only adds.

Trades
There is no limit to the number of trades allowed - either during the season or in the offseason. There is no transaction cost for a trade.

Draft picks may be traded, and Yahoo currently allows picks for the next season to be traded during the current season. Up to two draft picks total per team may be included in trades each season.

Prior to each season, a trade deadline will be set which will end trading for the remainder of that regular season. Typically, this will be the Yahoo default trade deadline.

If a majority of voting owners vote to veto a trade, the trade will not be allowed. However, when voting against a trade, it is important to consider only whether you believe there is collusion or another attempt to circumvent the rules and damage the integrity of the league involved, not whether you feel the trade is not balanced equally.
